Team 1719 was created in preparation for the 2006 FRC season, by a Park School parent whose son had a keen interest in robotics. The concept of an "umbrella" team, accepting students from outside of Park, recognized that a school as small as Park would face challenges fielding a team of sufficient size. Our first year included students from Park, Aberdeen High School, and Loyola, and the team has had at least one student (and usually more) from outside of Park every year since. These students have not only contributed to the growth of the team by their presence, but their parents have been a critical resource, providing many of our strongest mentors and volunteers.

After the conclusion of the 2011 season, Team 1727 from nearby Dulaney High School ceased operations, and a dozen or so students from that highly successful program petitioned to join The Umbrella Corporation. The merger has been a smashing success. With the enthusiasm, technical skills, and family support that Team Rex brought to our program, we have had highly successful seasons both on and off the field since the merger.
